Evans Head is a picturesque coastal fishing village by the sea boasting one of the prettiest and safest beaches on the east coast of Australia, which makes tourism a very important facet of this area. It is a very popular holiday destination, with the population being 3000, and swelling to 10,000 over the summer holidays.
Evans Head is a fishing village, with the Evans River providing not only great fishing, but beautiful scenery as the local fishing boats enter and exit the breakwater.
Main attractions are the surfing beaches, the beautiful Evans River, leisure fishing, bushwalking, whale watching, bike riding, golfing, bowling and many family facilities.

Attractions
There are many fine national parks and nature reserves including Bundjalung National Park, Goanna Headland and Broadwater National Park.
At South Broadwater adjacent to the highway, is the Broadwater Koala Park. It provides a shady rest area for tourists and koalas alike.
Razorback Lookout offers spectacular views of the entire area.
Bushwalks abound around the points and headlands, and through the National Parks.
Evans Head is a picturesquetown, with the beautiful Evans River lazily meandering its way through town to the breakwater. The banks of the river have picnic tables and BBQ facilities, ideal for family recreation; and the breakwater is great for leisure fishing. The beaches at Evans Head are some of the safest surfing beaches on the East Coast.

Local shopping gives you all the essentials. and the shopping centres of Ballina and Lismore are only a comfortable drive away.
Local markets are a regular event.

Public Transport
Kirklands and CountryLink Bus Services provide regular transport to Lismore & Ballina.
Casino train station is 40 minutes from Evans Head with trains departing north and south on a regular basis.
Evans Head has a local airport which can accomodate light airplanes, and Ballina airport is 25 minutes from Evans Head.

The Evans River K-12 School is the area's largest education facility, providing primary and secondary education, and is one of the most modern and advanced facilities in the region. Sport
Many sports are played in Evans Head, but the beach and the river lend themselves to fishing and water sports.
Evans Head is the venue for the annual 'Fishing Classic'. Held in July, it is one of the richest fishing classics with prize money in excess of $100,000.
For surfers, there is the Evans Head Longboard Competition. Held over the long weekend in October, this event heralds the start of the surfing season.
Woodburn-Evans Head Golf Club is a nine hole course with tree-lined fairways, and only 5 minutes out of Evans Head.
Evans Head hosts the annual Seafood Bowling Carnival in August every year. Held at the Evans Head Bowling Club, this popular event attracts bowlers from many areas. Strong competition on the bowling green, as well as a seafood smorgasboard keeps drawing people back every year.Also in Evans Head are Tennis Courts.
